FLAVOUR ORIGINS

Often referred to as the “tree of life”, the coconut tree and its fruit has provided vital sustenance and materials to many cultures throughout history and up to the present day. The name comes from the old Portuguese word “coco” meaning “head” or “skull” in reference to the three indentations in the shell that resemble facial features. Coconuts are distinct from other fruits because of the large amount of clear liquid contained inside, called coconut water or coconut juice. The white flesh that encases the water has a firm bite and a sweet, nutty, fragrant flavour that make it a popular addition to a broad range of sweet and savoury dishes, as well as soaps and cosmetics. The Mathieu Teisseire Coconut purée delivers the subtle taste of fresh coconut and is thick and unctuous in texture with the delightful addition of grated coconut which adds to it's tropical flavour. Perfect for desserts, sauces and the world famous piña colada cocktail
