FLAVOUR ORIGINS

Tangerines are thought to be native to Southeast Asia and were named due to the export travel through the port of Tangier in Morocco. The fruit is cultivated in the subtropical regions of both the Old World and New World, especially southern Europe, and the southern United States. Often known as a Mandarin (particularly in America), due to its link to the Mandarin family – in fact all Tangerines are Mandarin but not all Mandarins are Tangerines. Tangerines are smaller and less rounded than oranges, with the taste profile considered less sour as well as sweeter and stronger. Today, its citrus profile is popular when it comes to flavourings and in particular liqueurs and soft drinks. Mathieu Teisseire Tangerine brings a different citrus profile to an already popular range of true flavours, perfect for cocktails and refreshments, including iced teas.
