FLAVOUR ORIGINS

The cactus is a member of a plant family with over 1750 known species and are native to the Americas. Despite their origin, the word Cactus actually derives from the Ancient Greek word “Kaktos”, a name used to refer to a spiny plant whose origins are now unclear. While Cacti are distributed across the Americas from Patagonia in the south to parts of western Canada in the north, they are typically found in desert areas and are perfectly adapted to live in some of the driest places on Earth. Although spiky in appearance, many species of Cactus are a delicious delicacy; the prickly pear has a taste that’s been described as a cross between natural bubblegum and watermelon and is used to make jams and candies as well as adding flavour to cocktails and salads. Mathieu Teisseire Cactus Syrup offers a floral nose and flavour that's reminiscent of watermelon and cucumber, elevated by notes of pepper. This syrup makes a fantastic addition to cocktails, mocktails, sodas and more.
