FLAVOUR ORIGINS

Cherries have been enjoyed for centuries across many different cultures, taking their name from the Latin “cerasum” referring to an ancient Greek region near Turkey from which cherries are thought to have been first exported to Europe. They are the fruit of plants that are members of the Prunus family, which includes plums, peaches and almonds, with commercially produced cherries cultivated from a variety of different species.

Cherished for their ornamental beauty as well as their deep, rich flavour, today cherries are enjoyed raw or in preserves and pies, with their strong juice used to add distinctive flavour to sweets, liqueurs, desserts and syrups.

Mathieu Teisseire Cherry Syrup is where it all began. With its beautiful sun-ripened cherry flavour heightened by hints of almond and a deep red colour, it mixes beautifully with sodas, smoothies, teas and cocoas, delivering drinks with a perfect cherry hint.
