FLAVOUR ORIGINS
Violets are flowering plants that occur in purple, blue and white forms, all of which bear the characteristic fragrance described by Shakespeare as: "Forward, not permanent; sweet, not lasting. The perfume and suppliance of a minute". Greeks and Romans believed that Violets were useful as herbal remedies for a variety of maladies, also using them to create wines and flavour ceremonial dishes.
The edible flower is rich in Vitamin C, antioxidants and other nutrients that are believed to aid the immune system. Moreover, its scent is frequently used to fragrance oils, lotions and perfumes that are enjoyed around the world.
Mathieu Teisseire Violet Syrup expertly captures the delicate, sweetly perfumed notes of this cherished flower, providing a tantalising addition to drinks.
