FLAVOUR ORIGINS
Mango is the fruit produced by the tropical tree Mangifera indica, which has been cultivated in South and Southeast Asia since ancient times. It is the national fruit of India, Pakistan and the Philippines, and is often referred to as the “apple of the tropics”.
Eaten raw, the succulent flesh of a mango has a fragrant sweetness and rich, juicy flavour. There are many different varieties of mango, of which thick-skinned varieties are best for making South American style salsas, pickles and chutneys. Mango is also used in Asian curries, fish dishes, salads and European-style puddings such as pavlova, tarts, ice cream and sorbets, as well as smoothies and juices.
Mathieu Teisseire Mango Syrup superbly captures the exotic, fragrant flavour of fresh mango. Offering a delicious floral and fruity nose, this syrup offers a tropical edge to cocktails, mocktails, sodas, teas and lemonades.
