FLAVOUR ORIGINS
Originating in Central China, the Yuzu was introduced to Japan during the Tang dynasty where it’s used in preparation for a traditional hot bath. Taken on the winter solstice day, the bath is believed to ward off winter colds and flu as well as helping to heal chapped skin.
Yuzu is a fragrant hybrid of mandarin orange and ichang papeda, giving it a robust flavour resembling the grapefruit. Its juice, peel and seeds add a tart twist to sauces, seasonings and vinegars, while its oil is found in perfume, cosmetics and aromatherapy.
Mathieu Teisseire Yuzu Citron syrup combines Yuzu's unique taste with lemon, creating an uplifting citrus fusion. Use its zesty, refreshing flavour to elevate classic cocktails, boost a refreshing tea, or add zing to a zero-proof fizz.
