But it wasn’t until Christopher Columbus to the West Indies on his second voyage in 1493 that limes spread to Mexico and Florida.
It is widely believed that limes are in fact a hybrid between a citron and a mandarin orange and offer a higher sugar content than their lemon counterpart.
