FLAVOUR ORIGINS

Bitters have quite ancient roots going as far back as the ancient Egyptians, where it was believed they used them for medicinal purposes due to their herbal nature.

By the Middle Ages, bitters became more concentrated and were prepared with distilled alcohol, which modern bitters can trace their heritage. Italian bitters, invented in 1860 by Gaspare Campari, in Novara Italy, gave birth to a new era of ‘red passion’ and Italian Bitters.

The addition of this ingredient led to the cocktails we know today, the Americano and the Negroni. Mathieu Teisseire Bitter has been designed to deliver the perfect craft cocktails and drinks serves by elevating them through its combination of herbal top notes, woody tones and a touch of citrus tart. A perfect way to deliver a full-flavoured serve.
