Apples, now cultivated worldwide, are thought to have originated in the Dzungarian Alps, north-west China before gradually making their way into Asia, the Mediterranean and the Middle East. They are members of Rosaceae, the Rose family, along with other delicious edibles such as, pears, plums, peaches, cherries, strawberries, and raspberries.
