FLAVOUR ORIGINS

Bubblegum is one of the most popular confectionery in the world, with an instantly recognizable flavour that conjures memories of childhood. Gum that is used specifically for chewing can be traced all the way back to the ancient Greeks, who chewed the resin from mastic trees - possibly for medicinal purposes as well as enjoyment. But it wasn’t until 1928 that a man called Walter Diemer discovered a gum recipe that allowed the chewer to blow a bubble. The pink colour came from the only food colouring Diemer had to hand, while the distinctive flavour was made from a combination of esters, which are flavourings with fruit like odours that mimic natural tastes. Combined, the esters create a kind of strawberry-banana-punch type flavour. Mathieu Teisseire Bubblegum Syrup beautiful recreates the much loved, nostalgic tutti frutti flavour . With it's sweet candy taste, hints of cooked sugar and notes of vanilla it makes a great addition to mocktails, cocktails, sodas, milkshakes and desserts.
