FLAVOUR ORIGINS
The pomegranate is a fruit bearing shrub native to a region that stretches from modern day Iran to Northern India. They were one of the first fruit trees to be domesticated in the eastern Mediterranean region, and the Ancient Greek myth of Persephone - the goddess of the underworld - frequently mentions her consumption of pomegranate seeds.
The ruby coloured seeds are encased in a bitter, pale-yellow pith and a hard, shiny skin blushed with red or yellow. Prized for their tart and aromatic flavour, the seeds are commonly sprinkled in sweet and savoury salads to complement oranges, salad leaves, nuts and cheeses, while its juice is a popular drink in Europe and the Middle East.
Mathieu Teisseire Pomegranate Syrup beautifully recreates the sweet, tart flavours of this distinctive fruit. With its vibrant colour, floral aroma and fragrant flavour, it works magically in a variety of delicious drink creations such as sodas, cocktails, mocktails, beers, smoothies and more.
