The annual Monde Selection Quality Awards are arguably the most prestigious awards in the culinary world. So we are delighted that Mathieu Teisseire is a winner for the third consecutive year. In the 2022 Selection, we scooped Grand Gold and Gold awards for two innovative new flavours in our ever-expanding portfolio of premium syrups. The awards are a wonderful testament to our quest for exceptional quality and passion for True Flavour.
The Monde Selection International Quality Institute was founded in Brussels in 1961, and its annual awards have become the benchmark of quality in food, drink, health and beauty products. A Monde Selection quality label is a global mark of excellence for a product that is simply outstanding in its category.
Each year, over 3,000 products from 90 countries are assessed by a judging panel of over 80 independent experts. In the categories of food and drink, experts include technicians, chefs and master brewers, renowned for their knowledge in food science and biotechnology.
The Institute also collaborates with scientific communities to ensure that the judging meets international industry standards.
Each product is rigorously tested and evaluated for visual presentation, taste, bouquet, texture, mouthfeel, aftertaste and packaging. Of those 3,000 products, only a third make the cut, receiving a Bronze, Silver, Gold or Grand Gold award.
This year, Mathieu Teisseire won Monde Selection's most prestigious awards for two distinctive and aromatic new flavours – our Lavender and Yuzu Citron syrups.
Lavender won a Gold award. This deliciously floral syrup is a taste of Provence in a glass. It wowed the judging panel with its rich, voluptuous flavour and delicate aroma, capturing the essence of the iconic Mediterranean herb.
This violet-hued syrup adds an intriguing floral dimension to a wide range of drinks. Try it in a Lavender Fruit Cooler – a fruity melange of apple and cranberry juices with a mint and lavender twist.
Yuzu Citron scooped a Grand Gold award. A hybrid of the rarer, on-trend citrus fruit yuzu and mandarin orange, this refreshing syrup is intensely zesty and has a robust aroma. It adds a dash of tartness to drinks – try it in a Yuzu and Coconut Mojito, which reinvents the classic rum-and-lime cocktail with fragrant coconut and a citrus twist.
Previous Mathieu Teisseire Monde Selection wins have included Gold for our Chocolate Praline, Black Tea and Green Tea syrups in 2021.
In 2020 we won Grand Gold awards for Passion Fruit, Pomegranate, Hazelnut and Strawberry. These joined an incredible sweep of 13 Gold awards for innovative flavours and global best-sellers including Hibiscus, Okinawa Black Sugar, Pink Grapefruit & Lychee, Cherry, Vanilla and Grenadine.
Our collection of syrups will continue to expand as we explore exciting new flavours and embrace new trends in taste. Future Monde Selection winners are, we are sure, already being developed in our kitchens and labs.
