FLAVOUR ORIGINS

Blue Curaçao is a liqueur flavoured with the dried peel of the bitter orange named ‘’laraha’’ – a variant that is only grown on the Dutch Caribbean Island of Curaçao. Spanish explorers first brought the ancestor of the laraha, the bitter Seville orange, to the island in 1527. Although the flesh of the laraha is bitter, the peels are dried to reveal a sweetly fragranced oil. Once processed, the liqueur has an orange-like flavour with varying degrees of sharpness, and a naturally colourless appearance. Food colouring is then added, which creates its distinctive exotic appearance and provides a colourful addition to cocktails and other mixed drinks. Mathieu Teisseire Le Blue Syrup recreates the delicious notes of this prized liqueur without the alcohol. With a bright, vibrant appearance, sweet orange peel flavour and subtle bitter finish, add this syrup to sodas, mocktails, spritzes and cocktails.
